Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Professor Ho-Seong Cho (College of Veterinary Medicine) has been appointed as a member of the National Bio-Innovation Committee. His term is two years, beginning April 16, 2026. He began activities on April 16 with the committee's inauguration ceremony and its first meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Minseok Kim.
The launch of the National Bio-Innovation Committee integrates the previously separately operated National Bio Committee and the Bio-Health Innovation Committee. The aim is to establish a single governance body to oversee and coordinate whole-of-government bio policy and to strengthen the momentum for implementing bio policy. Beyond the previous review-centered operating system, the committee will serve as an intergovernmental policy control tower with deliberative and decision-making functions capable of substantively coordinating and deciding key policies and projects.
The National Bio-Innovation Committee is composed of a chair (the Prime Minister), 16 government members, and 27 private members, totaling 44 members. It will strengthen policy capacity through an operating committee, subcommittees, special committees, consultative bodies, and advisory panels.
Professor Cho has been a faculty member in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine at JBNU since 2010. He currently serves as chair of the Bio-Manufacturing, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Expert Committee of the Deliberative Council of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council.
